Schedule a meeting – Create a Teams meeting as usual, the meeting must first be saved before you can add any apps to it (step 2).

Add Langfinity – Click the meeting in your calendar, select "+" (Apps), search for "Langfinity”, and add the app to the Teams meeting.

Sign in – Use Single Sign-On (SSO) with your Microsoft account

Configure settings for your meeting, once done click save to add the app

Configure the languages that will be spoken in the meeting. These are the languages that will be available to participants to choose and translate from/to.

Toggle to use voice translation by default for all participants. Turning this option on will turn on voice translation (AI voice avatars) when opening the app in the meeting.

Set the default voice avatar for all participants. By clicking “Voice avatar” and selecting a voice in the list of options will set the voice avatar that will represent the participants translated voice by default (they can change this during the meeting individually as well).

Toggle recording for the meeting. When enabled this will capture all the translated captions by the AI translator bot and store them in a transcript that you can later access or share. When the meeting ends, you’ll receive an email with the recording.

Join the meeting
Open the app when in the meeting and paste the meeting link/join info, then click “Invite AI translator” to invite the AI translator bot. Make sure to click “Admit” when the bot joins.

Once the bot joins you can select the language of your preference and start speaking. Other participants will see the text in the language that they choose.

Translation is enabled automatically. Click ‘Voice’ to turn on voice translation. When a participant speaks in a different language, their original voice will be muted, and an AI voice avatar will play in your chosen language.

Customize text size, speed, and voice avatars in the settings menu

End translation – Translation stops when the meeting ends or if you remove Langfinity from the Teams meeting

As a teams admin, navigate to https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/policies/manage-apps
Click the “Actions” dropdown in the top right corner and select “Org-wide app settings”, ensure that “Allow third-party apps” is selected
You will also need to navigate to https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/policies/app-permission and select either the global policy (shown in screenshots) or a specific policy for the team you want to give access to Langfinity.
Once there, ensure either all third-party apps are allowed or that specific apps are allowed (see next steps for allowing Langfinity as a specific app).
If your organization can only allow specific apps, search for “Langfinity” or “Byrdhouse” in the apps list and set the status of the app to “Allowed”
